Following on from my post last week about Death Row, I thought that this post would be very fitting.
I saw the clip below on Recover the Gospel and thought “Wow, even the producers of E.R. understand the absurdity of post-modernism.”
For those who dont know what post modernism is, in a nutshell it is the belief that there is no absolute truth. Your truth is your truth and my truth is my truth and they can both be true at the same time. In other words, truth is relative and not objective.
The excerpt below is from an episode from the 14th season of E.R. titled “Atonement”. A man looking for answers does not find what he needs in a post-modern view of religion
Imagine the lady pushing ‘Your Best Life Now‘ or ‘Become a Better You‘ by Joel Osteen into his hand. Seems absurd doesnt it? Because mans greatest need is not to have a better life in this life but to have his sins forgiven by an angry God so that he can enjoy the next life.
Always think about the content of your gospel presentation. Can it be preached to a dying man who wants to know how to have his sins forgiven? If not, then think again
If someone came to you and said “I need someone who will look me in the eye and tell me how to find forgiveness because I am running out of time”, what would you tell them?
Man, that guy was just begging for someone to open up a Bible and show him what the Lord had done for him. He already understood he was a sinner. He understood the “wages of sin”. He needed to hear about the “gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” He understodd that psychology was not going to help him. New Age thinking was worthless. He needed the only answer there is. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…there is something about that name!!
Amen and Amen Tim.
In my experiences a “word of faith” minister would have told him he was dieing because he didn’t have enough faith, right after he got him saved through faith…… I’m glad i’m out of that bunk,, and it has cost me my wife, who believes only her im-pastor.
ps: and I do pray for them and everyone else caught up in that false teaching……………..
Sorry to hear about you and your wife. Unfortunately, you are one of the many casualties of the ‘word of faith’ heritical teachings
