This is one of the most important questions in the bible. Was Jesus just a good man? Was he just a prophet as the muslims believe? Or was he actually God himself manifested in the flesh? If he was God, then why did he constantly speak to himself?

Well I think that the thing that throws most people off and is a big stumbling block, including some christians, is their understanding of the trinity. I will not cover it here extensively now but here is a quick overview.

Even though the word ‘trinity’ cannot be found in the bible, the bible makes it clear through different passages of scripture that God is triune. In a word, the trinity describes the nature of God (OK, I described it in four words). It is the doctrine that God is one being who exists, simultaneously and eternally, as three distinct persons (not to be confused by “person”): the Father, the Son (incarnate as Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. They are not the same, they have different functionalites, yet they are one God. THEY ARE NOT THREE GODS. Yes, I know. It is a difficult thing for our finite minds to get our head around but hopefully, the diagram below will help you to get a better understanding.

This explains passages when the Son is talking to the Father as he did in Matthew 26:39

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

And then you have passages where all three are present, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:21,22)

I think that this is foundational to a correct understanding of Jesus. So lets get back to the original question. Is Jesus God? Well I think that the best person to answer that question conclusively is God himself through his revealed word in scripture. So click here to see a list of over 180 verses in the bible that show that Jesus is indeed God. This was taken from one of the lessons out of The School of Biblical Evangelism.

  1. Notice It Does not say Bible in the Bible, but Guess what the Bible is called, BIBLE.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let (us) make man in (our) image, after (our) likeness.

Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of (us)

Notice in Daniel Daniel 7:13 Son of Man(Jesus Christ) and the Ancient of Days (Father God) (They)

    Daniel 7:13
I saw in the night visions, and, behold (one like the Son of man) came with the clouds of heaven, and came to (the Ancient of days) and (they) brought him near before him.

(the Spirit of his Son) into your hearts, crying (Abba, Father)

    Galatians 4:6
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth (the Spirit of his Son) into your hearts, crying (Abba, Father)

    Kind Regards,

King Jesus Christ of Nazareth is LORD…

    • Michael says:

I’ll try to be a fruitful as possible for you on this post Alan.

I thought the bible was made up of Holy scripture?

Daniel 7:13 (21st Century King James Version)

13″I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of Man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.

I thought Jesus was the son of God, not the son of man?

      Genesis 1
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Notice God says let THEM rule over the fish etc. Not HE, not Jesus.

      Genesis 3
1Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, “Yea, hath God said, `Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

God says this because some of the trees are poisonous.

Genesis 3:22 (21st Century King James Version)

22And the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become as one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live for ever”–

The tree of life takes your life, and after you die you live forever. Only then are you born again regardless of how many times you Pretended to be born again.

Galatians 4:6 (21st Century King James Version)

6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father.”

The spirit of the Son of God would make me cry too. I’m not joking.

      Jesus Christ is definitely Lord

  2. Alan Higgins says:

Michael, before I start, please keep to the point and not bring in straw men arguments. Also, if you are going to pick and choose which scriptures you want to obey as you have done on other posts, then please dont bother commenting as you will be just wasting my time and I would prefer if you would refrain from commenting on my blog

Also, your comments on scripture show clearly a lack of understanding on how to RIGHTLY divide scripture. I would advise that you look at some basic rules in biblical interpretation

    https://realchristianity.wordpress.com/2007/10/24/ten-rules-of-biblical-interpretation/

Now to answer your questions. Jesus was called BOTH the Son of God and the Son of man because he was both divine and human. We can see that Jesus was human because he had such attributes as hunger, thirst and tiredness but at the same time divine as per https://realchristianity.wordpress.com/2007/12/04/is-jesus-god where I have shown you over 180 verses that prove that Jesus was God.

Re Genesis 1, the context explains itself

“Let us (Father,Son and Holy Spirit) make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them (mankind) rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground

You say that the serpent told the woman not to eat of the tree because it was poisonous and also “the tree of life takes your life, and after you die you live forever. Only then are you born again regardless of how many times you Pretended to be born again.”

Where did you get this information from? Are you using eisegesis (reading something INTO a verse or exegesis (reading something OUT OF the verse). If it is in the bible please state chapter and verse where you have RIGHTLY interpreted it in context
