OK, so I was channel flicking over the weekend when I saw the contestants on American Idol singing Darlene Zschech’s ‘Shout to the Lord’. Below is what I heard

To be honest it was no surprise that they would replace the name ‘Jesus’ with shepherd’ because the name Jesus makes the road so narrow and it is the name of offence. I then read here that, apparently after Fox’s message boards lit up with complaints from Christian viewers, they changed it and the next time they sang it, Jesus name was added

Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,

“ The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”

“ A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”

They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. (1 Peter 2:7-8)

I pray that even though the shows motives would not be to glorify God, God will get glorified anyway and seeds will be sown.

Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. (Philippians 1:15:18)
