Before I say anything, let me make this clear that this post is not to belittle or minimize domestic abuse or the sufferers of it. Those who do this despicable thing should have the full weight of the law brought on them. This post is solely a look at Juanita Bynum actions from a biblical standpoint

Not content to play out her whole domestic abuse and divorce out in front of the whole world, Juanita Bynum is making the most of her publicity (and dragging it out) and now appears in Divorce Court. That’s right, the self proclaimed ‘face of domestic violence’ ‘christian’ ‘pastor’ is guest appearing on a TV show about an event that God hates. To say she is milking her situation is an understatement. Watch the following videos

So what does the bible say

1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. (Titus 2 1:1-5)

First and foremost, Juanita’s is in no position to teach anybody about living a biblical family life. I know many women will flock to her because they can ‘relate’ but just relating does not make the advice good especially when it comes to godly matters. I have heard Bishop Weeks (her soon to be ex-husband) say many times that he has seeked reconciliation but Juanita is having none of it and has not even hinted that she requires the same. Surely if there was ever a chance to show the love of God, it is then. Look how many times we have offended God and if we come with a repentant heart, he is willing to forgive us.

A marriage is supposed to be a representation of Christ and the church. When the world looks at Juanita and her attitude about her marriage, what does the world see? Here is an example of what they see

She is supposedly the spokesperson for God yet blasphemes his name by her conduct. What she is doing does NOT bring glory to God, she does NOT preach sound doctrine and you can see from past videos that she operates on greed (If only that threshing floor video was still available)

I think her words “I love him, but I love me more” sums her up. Ching Ching!!!

Wow, Alan. I guess just way too many people from a particular audience must have been watching these videos. ‘They have been removed.’

I could scour the Webs for other links, but I’m familiar with Ms. Bynum’s ‘personality.’

Just letting you know in case…

  2. lavrai says:

I came across an article on her appearances…

    This is my favorite part:

[Since abuse in Bynum’s marriage became public last year, many have speculated whether the evangelist is trying to gain more popularity and stay in the limelight. Bynum has shared her testimony with magazine publications, has been called the new face of domestic violence and said she is launching a new ministry that tackles the abuse that spouses all over the world suffer from.

But last week, Bynum assured Toler that this wasn’t a publicity stunt.

When news of abuse hit the media, Bynum embraced the opportunity and said she felt she had a “responsibility” to her thousands of followers to deal with the issue.

“At that moment, the shame left, the embarrassment left, and I began to see myself as an individual who was given an awesome opportunity to not only talk about it but for people to watch me go through the healing process,” she said on “Divorce Court.”]

Wow. “…for people to watch me (go through the healing process).” Maybe I’m just reading into it or assuming too much.

    Found it here: http://www.christianpost.com/article/20080429/32165_Televangelist_Bynum_Discusses_Abuse%2C_Divorce_on_Reality_TV.htm

  3. Alan Higgins says:

Lavrai, they have not been removed. If it says that, refresh the page and play them again. The 3rd to last one, you will have to double-click to watch it as it doesnt allow embedding into websites

  4. Isaiah says:

Interesting… I’ve never actually heard of Juanita till I read your post. Thank you for highlighting another false teacher!

  5. Alan I hate to say this but I think this is a stunt for publicity to send funds into a ministry that is failing miserably because of loss of credibility. God pulled the covers off and revealed them and now they are trying to undo what God has done. Sorry no can do Juanita and Mr., Dr., Rev., Bishop, or Whatever (title this week) Weeks III. I looked on her hubbies site and he is still selling his book “What love taught me” for $13.95 a supposedly 30% savings (haha) They should pay me to take the book! Now if you buy the book you get a free interactive CD and 8 free web seminars (what! go sit down somewhere!). In September 2008 he is coming out with a revised edition called “What love taught me Only” (oh whatever), along with that he is coming out with another book called “Finding yourself while in transition, for singles and divorcees” Oh for heavens sake, how bout finding GOD WHILE IN TRANSITION HELLO!!!!!! MORE GOSPEL OF SELF GARBAGE!! in October 2008 they are having a Renaissance for domestic wholeness (another money drive in disguise). I pray they sit down under an apostolic covering and get some real word in them and chill out. They both have a pride spirit along with a spirit of affectation and a religious spirit that won’t quit. They are really sad to watch. I didn’t even click on the videos because I can’t watch Juanita anymore, I just pray for her, i am no longer interested in watching her making a fool of herself and giving the unsaved something else to laugh at ! They don’t represent the whole body of Christ, but the devil puts them on display like they do, and the media just eats it up! Much prayer is needed in this situation. God save them both from themselves.

  6. Douglas K. Adu-Boahen says:

Bro. Alan, by all means, correct me if I’m out of place, but doesn’t she weirdly remind you of Heather Mills-McCartney

  7. Alan Higgins says:

Come to think of it, yes. There are a lot of parallel similarities. Good spot 😉

  8. Hey Alan, not to be content with letting the “profitess” take his shine (as we say), Tommy has reemerged from the dungeon for his turn in the spotlight.

My prayer is that the more we see of these two vipers, the more evident it will be that they are not of God…

  9. Oghale says:

I’d love to say that it will do us all (am assuming..everyone who has posted a comment is a christian!) to talk a lot less about the spilled milk and pray about what is happening in the body of Christ, lets not break our prayer cover by talking when we should be praying. God Bless

  10. Alan Higgins says:

And how do you know we are not praying? Paul did not always ‘pray’ but also constantly warned us that we should be aware of false doctrine and teachers

  11. MYJ says:

    10 ” Alan Higgins
And how do you know we are not praying? Paul did not always ‘pray’ but also constantly warned us that we should be aware of false doctrine and teachers”

Read your comments… Look more like cursing than praying….

Yes Apostle Paul did warned us true Christian about you…. false teachers and doctrine.

Juanita Bynum is a true woman of God…. STOP WORKING FOR SATAN… by helping him destroy God’s servants…. Begin to walking inthe Holy Spirit and not after the flesh and begin taking the bean out of your own eyes so you can see clearly…

    • Lawrence says:

Juanita is NOT a real prophet. She is a huckster, and will pay dearly for her false “ministry”. Tose who are deluded by her only have themselves to blame. My advice to them is first make sure they are real Christians, not false converts. Secondly find, join, and become active in a Bible-centered, missionary-minded, evangelistic-motivated church. DO NOT support these fakes. There is no bible precedent that condones false teachers like Juanita Bynum. Remember this. According to GOD’s WORD, all it takes is ONE, not two, ONE false prophesy for a person to be declared a false prophet. Once that happens we are told not to listen to such a person. Jaunita and her ilk are “lucky’ in that, had she tried this garbage during the time of the real Apostles of the first century, she would have been stoned to death. Just sayin’…..

  12. Alan Higgins says:

Walking in the spirit = walking in obedience to his word
Walking in the flesh = walking in disobedience to his word

First of all, if you look at my series on false teachers/teaching starting at https://realchristianity.wordpress.com/2007/11/12/the-marks-of-false-christian-teaching-and-teachers-part-1/ you will see at the end, I always say pray for these teachers

Secondly, I would like to know what makes her a true woman of God? I can tell you what makes a person NOT a true person of God. It is when they do not preach good doctrine and do not preach biblically. If you can show me my bad doctrine, I am willing because I always want to be true to scripture. The question is though, even if I could show you Juanita’s bad doctrine, would you still be loyal to her anyway?

  13. Pastor Benjamin Modimoeng says:

I am 110% against the false prophetes and currently busy with a project on the issue trying to alert people to see them for who they are which is 1 of the reasons i landed on this web. but i beg of you not to call name because we are not fighting against flesh and blood but the spirit. the only way we can win this battle is to expose the spirit not people because people will question us instead. and accuse us of persecuting “Men and women of God”. when you menthion names you kill the chance of the folowers seeing the truth.

    God’s Love

  14. Alan Higgins says:

I understand your concern. Of course we do not battle against flesh and blood, but surely in order for us to point out errors we have to give examples. Here is what the bible says

    Romans 16:17

Now I beseech you, brethren, MARK THEM (not just the spirit) which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

    1 Timothy 1:3
I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men (not just the spirit behind it) not to teach false doctrines any longer.

    Titus 1:9
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those (not just the spirit) who oppose it.

There is too many false teachers around and there is nothing wrong with defending the faith. If our motive is to just bring the person down, then I understand but my motive is to just stand up for truth and refute error

  15. lionelwoods7 says:

I agree brother marking has to do with name calling. John and Paul both do this with great clarity and if we are afraid people aren’t going to like us because they perceive an attack on their beloved wolf then so be it.

it is not about being hated or that i am afraid. What is the purpose of this preaching(awarenes if it is not gona make people aware.

Believe me if we speak about the spirit of the false prophet and expose it people, even those who follow these “false prophet will see the truth.

  17. Vonda says:

wow! why don’t you come by so I can slap you around a little while? oooh, I am sorry… i love you, forgive me please? now let me kick you! i am sorry…. i love you, forgive me please? now let me punch you! i am sorry…. i love you, forgive me please? yes juanita loves him, she forgave him but she loved herself enough not to continue being abused. her husband may not be a bad guy i do not know either of them but anyone that beats someone else needs help. it is too easy to walk away and real men will tell a woman to walk away from abuse because love is not supposed to hurt. ever!
