Why is it important to rely on objective truth instead of subjective opinion? The answer is because if you rely on the latter, quite literally all hell breaks loose. We need the objective truth of the Scriptures to be our standard as believers and not the subjective opinions of man

  1. Allan says:

    Alan,

This is because opinions may not always be the truth.

But at the same time truth can also be an opinion.

  2. Alan Higgins says:

Please explain. My opinion cannot make truth truth. Truth is truth or it is not (if that makes sense)

  3. Alan,

The video was on spot. Too many today don’t believe that “no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation” (see 2 Peter 1:20) and that there are proper principles of hermeneutics for us to keep things in context and arrive at the Author’s intended interpretation and therfore we will also arrive at proper application.

Also without knowing these things, men and women are vulnerable to the lying preachers as was evident in the video.

    Grace and peace,
    Olan

That was fantastic! Subjective interpretation is the mother of heresy.
