Have you ever been a sucker and put your name on the mailing list of some of these so called preachers who are just after your money after which yo then get diluded with various mail asking for money or maybe your pastor just begs for it every Sunday in the guise of , if you give, you will be blessed. Courtesy of the FBI aka Preacher Bureau of Investigations, I challenge you to send this letter or even better, give it to them direct and see if they practice what they preach. I think I know what the response will be.

Dear Mr. Pastor Dude

Please do not send me another letter requesting that I support your ministries efforts around the world. I am not sure if you are aware of it or not but there exist ministry opportunities right here in (insert your City here) that are being ignored while you fly over us in order to get to (insert the City here).
Since you believe in sowing and reaping so much then why not exercise your supernatural faith by sowing a seed into my light bill or mortgage?  My mortgage is £989, and according to your preaching on sowing, if you pay it then you (Mr. Preacher Dude) can expect a 100 fold blessing from God.

Since you preach giving then I think it will be an awesome display of your faith in what you’re preaching if you take this opportunity and pay my mortgage today! Don’t sit there in fear Mr. Pastor Dude, God is waiting on you to apply your faith with this seed offering as you witness the power of sowing a seed.

And if you sow this seed today into my mortgage I will also add you to my list of preachers who have signed up to be a covenant partner with my Child Support Payments.

Covenant preachers will receive a special message from me each month highlighting how my bills are getting paid because of their faith. So today Mr. Pastor Dude, I am asking you to do your part and make sure the storehouse is full as according to Malachi 3:10 which ask that we bring all of the tithes into the storehouse.

Try God Mr. Pastor and see if he will open up a window and pour you out a blessing because you have sowed your seed in fertile ground, which just happens to be my bills.

Yours Truly

For those of you who dont know Pastor Albert Odulele is a very well know pastor here in the UK of Glory House

Below is a video on Channel 4 news explaining when Pastor Albert Odulele was charged

Well he has now admitted the offences. As per Channel 4:

Dr Albert Odulele, who runs Glory House International, admitted indecently assaulting a boy aged 14 and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old man – both former members of his congregation.

He entered the guilty pleas at Bexley Magistrates’ Court in south east London and was committed for sentencing at Woolwich Crown Court on a date yet to be set.

Magistrates granted him conditional bail at the brief hearing.

Odulele, who describes himself as a ‘teacher, preacher and evangelical preacher’, is a major figure in the world of evangelical Christianity.

His east London-based church says it has a congregation of 3,000.

There are also branches of Glory House International in Leeds, Birmingham, Nigeria and Brazil.

Worldwide following

And Odulele has attracted many more followers around the world through appearances at international evangelic conferences, on religious TV programmes and videos on YouTube.

His website describes him as an author, speaker and preacher, and boasts of his ‘charismatic style, prophetic delivery and prolific expression of truth’.

Channel 4 News understands the alleged assaults took place in 2003 and 2004.

The court heard how Odulele, 47, initially denied any wrongdoing after he was arrested last summer by the Metropolitan Police’s Major Child Abuse Investigation Unit.

But he later admitted to police that he had been ‘battling’ with his sexuality for years. He denied the offences were pre-planned.

Glory House International has been a registered charity for 18 years and has a turnover of £2 million a year.

I for one am glad that this has come to light because I believe that so many times, some of us hold leaders up high in an unhealthy way and never question what the the ‘man of God’ says. I have heard some of his messages and it is normally your typical doctrine revolving around prosperity, wealth transfer, self fulfillment, blessings, dominion now and everything else relating to the “What God has for you” doctrine.

Many Christians will be throwing out the ‘judge not’ line and will want to pretend that this stuff doesnt happen in Christendom but as Jesus said, you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:32). Adversely, that means that if you dont know the truth (or chose not to) , then you will be kept in bondage. Hopefully this will help people to have their eyes opened and say goodbye to the untouchable preachers.

As my friend says, my prayers are with his victims and not his reputation.

I for one do not understand how any Christians can think that Joel Osteen is a sound biblical teacher. I have watched his TV program and thought to myself ‘Where is Christ in all of this?’. Why does his book ‘Your Best Life now’ appeal to so many people?

The reason is because Joel’s message is simply the gospel of YOU and is a man-centered message which appaeals to the flesh and not a Christ-centered one which demands that the flesh is crucified with all its sinful passions.  Your transformed life is NOT the gospel and sadly, this is what many people think especially those who go to these type of chruches . Listen to this video as John Macarthur explains why Joel Osteen is a false teacher.

Ouch!! John MacArthur doesnt pull any punches on this one at the Ligonier Ministries’ Christless Christianity 2010 conference. THIS IS A MUST WATCH/LISTEN.

Some of the most popular preaching in America presents a message of positive thinking. The alternative Gospel of Joel Osteen and the prosperity preachers forgoes the cross and advises us to merely “do our best.” At its heart, this is pure legalism of the worst variety. In this message, Dr. John MacArthur examines the alternative gospel of the prosperity preachers and explains why legalism-lite is still legalism.

Promoting The Gospel Style Versus Promoting The Gospel Message

Some time back, I raised an issue with a few people on a forum which concerned me and that was in regards to gospel singers/groups/choirs promoting (and sometimes making money off) the gospel style, but at the same time not actually promoting the gospel message per se. There was a choir with the word ‘gospel’ included in the name and so therefore a few of us challenged this choir with the following questions. For now I will protect the name of the choir and just call it GC for gospel choir.

Question 1 from Person A:

Is the G in GC for The ‘Gospel’ or is it ‘G’ for ‘gospel choir style’? Do they want to ‘be’ good news – which is a legitimate, v low-key but non-confrontational style of ‘presence evangelism’, or PRE-evangelism, as i’d call it) or is their mission to ‘preach’ or to ‘evangelise’ in its proper sense, ie to confront sin and ignorance of the truth, with their ministry? If its the former, a bunch of v good vocalists singing together in a gospel ‘style’, about Christian themes can touch people, no matter how saved, religious, straight/bent their members are, (I guess if i was the boss in that case, hiring Christian vocalists would be more of a plus than an essential cos they’d be able to sing the songs with real meaning. There would be no scruple about moral standards if it was JUST a business that sought to bring a positive vibe to an event….

Question 2 from Myself:

The gospel is simply unless a person repents and puts their trust in Christ ALONE,they will go to hell because we are all guilty before God but Christ showed his love to us by taking the punishment that should have been ours, and dying on the cross providing a way out for us so that we can receive the forgiveness of sins and escape his wrath.

Is the WHOLE gospel told on a regular basis in whatever form (not just a Jesus loves you gospel)? Is the the wrath of God mentioned? Is hell mentioned? I am not saying that you must do hell fire preaching but to truly appreciate salvation, you have to know what you are saved from and you have to explain the whole counsel of God and not just parts which the hearers do not want to hear

Please educate us on how GC expounds the gospel or even lets people know what the gospel is.

Question 3 from Person B:

The main points that I made were in relation to GC’s website and you haven’t addressed either. The lack of the actual message of the Gospel eg: Salvation and the fact that GC performed with Madonna.
When I look at the bio it doesn’t even mention what the actual Gospel means and why GC sing Gospel Music.
There are many services offered on the website from Learn To Sing Gospel, Learn To Play Gospel to having a Gospel Choir at your wedding, etc.. But no mention of what that Gospel actually is… Why?????? I ask now as I asked then is it Gospel The Message Or Gospel The Service that’s been promoted on their website?

Needless to say, we never got a direct answer to the question but were constantly told how many people come back to them letting them know how the choir has touched their lives and the letters that they get. Now could it be that they are promoting the gospel message? It could be. But they were very reluctant to answer such straight forward questions (in fact I got a lot of stick for it) and were very defensive and as Person B said, there is not one mention of what the gospel message is on their website. They have also backed homosexual Elton John.

There are many people who are ‘touched’ by good singing and love gospel music but that does not mean that they have a repentant heart nor does it mean that repentance and faith is even hinted at. I know many people who love gospel music but hate the gospel.

Below is an example of Oprah (there couldnt possibly be only one way to God) Winfrey loving the gospel style. What do you think would have happened if Bebe Winans started talked about repentance and faith after the song?

Yet she promotes New Age stuff like The Secret. Below is a clip of her interview with Larry King. Notice how she Christianizes it a bit with the song ‘I Surrender All’.

Another example is when the BBC Beverley Knight (pictured below) was chosen to host a six week celebration of contemporary Gospel music on BBC Radio 2 here in the UK last year.

Beverley Knight

The show was called Gospel Nights. She was asked in a separate interview if she was a very religious person and if so, how often does she show here beliefs? Her answer was and I quote.

“I was raised in a pretty strict Christian household and that instilled in me powerful spiritual beliefs, but not necessarily of any strong religious persuasion. My beliefs permeate everything that I do, especially when I’m writing songs.”

Now we know that God can and does touch and convict people in these situations but lets not be pragmatic about it. If a gospel singers/groups/choirs aim is just to promote the style whether it be at weddings, functions, backing P Diddy, R Kelly at music awards or just so that we can have a good old singalong then the mark has been missed by a mile. The gospel message should always be Christ Centered and does not seek to be friendly with the audience. If it offends, it offends because that is the nature of the cross

What is pragmatism? In a nutshell it is when we are more concerned about the outcome and not so concerned with how we arrive at the outcome. This is not only prevalent in the world but in Christendom also. Basically it goes something like this:

We can do something in an unbiblical way and if someone gets saved through it, then whats the big problem? It doesnt matter if the truth is being preached or not. The ends justifies the means no matter what. I mean people are getting touched, lives are being changed, the ministry is reaching out to the poor so whats the big deal? Shouldn’t we be happy that people are being exposed to Christianity?

I praise God that he is able to save someone even in all the mess we call Christianity today. Paul even rejoiced that Christ is preached through people with wrong motives

Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.(Phil 1:15-18)

But should we say because it worked, we should continue to use that method even at the expense of truth? Should we be content with the dilution of truth even if the church seems to be doing some ‘good’, or should we ‘contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints’ (Jude 1:3)

If for example a woman goes pole dancing with gospel tracts in her underwear, and a punter takes one and as a result gets saved, can we then say, well it worked so it justifies pole dancing with gospel tracts? Of course not.

As believers, we should always aim to be true to scripture and true to sound doctrine. If Christ is the Truth, then we should be preaching Christ and him crucified. Pragmatism is dangerous and very humanistic because, in essence, we are saying we can get the result without doing it God’s way

Let us not get carried away with just the results, but let us aim to get the results God’s way and not ours.
